3. Can I upscale an image 2× or 4× without AI?
Yes. Choose 2× to double the width and height or 4× for a larger upscale. The tool uses high-quality multi-pass resampling in your browser rather than AI, so it increases the pixel grid without inventing new image details.
4. Can I resize an image without stretching or cropping?
Yes. Use 2×, 4×, Long Edge, or keep the aspect ratio locked in Custom mode. The other dimension is calculated from the original proportions, so the image can be resized without stretching or automatic cropping.
5. Does upscaling an image improve image quality?
Upscaling creates more pixels and can make an image more practical for larger output sizes, but it cannot restore detail that is missing from the source. Optional edge-aware sharpening can enhance the appearance of edges after resizing, but this is not an AI image enhancer or detail reconstruction tool.
6. Can I use this image resizer to prepare an image for printing?
Yes. Print Size mode lets you enter a physical width and height plus a target PPI. The resizer calculates the required pixel dimensions and creates an output at that size. PNG and JPG exports can also include the selected PPI as resolution metadata.
7. What PPI should I use when resizing an image for print?
300 PPI is a common target for detailed prints viewed at close range. Around 240 PPI can still work well for many prints, while 150 PPI may be suitable for larger pieces viewed from farther away. The best setting depends on the print process, viewing distance, and source image.
8. Which image formats can I resize, upscale, and export?
You can upload JPG, JPEG, JFIF, PNG, and WEBP images. The resized image can be exported as PNG, JPG, or WEBP when supported by your browser. PNG is useful for transparency and graphics, while JPG is often suitable for photographs and smaller file sizes.
9. Is my image uploaded to a server when I resize or upscale it?
No. Image decoding, resizing, upscaling, sharpening, and export are processed locally in your browser. Your image stays on your device instead of being uploaded to a remote server.
10. Why can very large images fail to resize or upscale?
Large pixel dimensions require substantial browser memory during resampling and export. If the requested output is too large for your device, choose a smaller custom size, lower the upscale factor, or reduce the longest edge.
