Custom Acrylic Pin Design Guide

Prepare your artwork for custom acrylic pins with Vograce. This guide covers sizing, printing, borders, transparency, special finishes, and file preparation to help you avoid common design issues before ordering.

Design Guidelines

1. Double-Sided Printing

• When the same artwork is used on both sides, the back design will be mirrored by default.

• For different front and back designs, upload the artwork separately and select the corresponding double-sided printing option.

• Keep the front and back artwork on separate, clearly labeled layers when submitting layered files.

Important: If your design contains text, choose "Double sided different designs" and provide correctly oriented artwork for each side to prevent mirrored text on the back.

2. Size and Border Requirements

• Acrylic pin size is measured by the longest edge of the finished acrylic piece, including the border—not just the printed artwork.

• The standard acrylic border width is 2 mm.

• You can upload your original artwork without drawing the cutting outline. Our design team will prepare the outline based on your design.

3. White Borders and Outlines

White outlines may appear slightly thinner on the finished acrylic pin, particularly near the edges.

• Avoid extremely thin white borders.

• Make the white outline slightly wider in your original artwork if you want it to remain clearly visible.

• If you are unsure about the border width, contact Vograce customer service to review your artwork before production.

4. White Ink and Transparency

White areas require a solid white ink backing and cannot produce a semi-transparent white effect.

For other semi-transparent colors, avoid very low CMYK values, as the printed colors may appear too pale or washed out.

Special Finishes and Artwork Setup

5. Borderless Acrylic Pins

For borderless or full-bleed acrylic pins:

• Extend the background color by 0.5 mm to provide a cutting bleed.

• You do not need to draw the cutline yourself. Upload your design with the required background area, and our designers will prepare the cutting outline.

• Avoid placing important artwork details directly along the cutting edge.

6. Gradient and Semi-Transparent Effects

For designs featuring gradients or semi-transparent areas:

• Place special effects on a separate, clearly named layer whenever possible.

• Alternatively, include "semi-transparent" in the file name and add a note to your order.

• Avoid extremely pale colors in semi-transparent areas. Slightly darker tones can help prevent an overly faint printed appearance.

Artwork File Requirements

To prepare your files for production, follow these specifications:

• File formats: PSD, PNG, PDF, or AI are recommended. JPG and CDR are also accepted for applicable acrylic pin products.

• Resolution: 300 DPI, with at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side.

• Color mode: CMYK is recommended for printing.

• Preferred files: Transparent-background PNG or layered PSD.

• Layer organization: Clearly identify front and back designs and any special transparency effects.

Before uploading, confirm that the artwork dimensions, printing options, and file details match your selected product.

Before You Place Your Order

Check that:

• Your selected pin size includes the acrylic border.

• Text and other directional elements are correctly oriented on both sides.

• White borders and transparent areas are prepared according to the guidelines.

• Special finishes and artwork instructions are clearly identified.

• Your files meet the recommended resolution and format requirements.

Here's how proof confirmation works, when to expect your artwork preview, and how production time is calculated.

1. When Will I Receive My Artwork Proof?

For eligible orders of more than 5 pieces, including products such as custom keychains, button pins, standees, stickers, and pillows, Vograce generally sends digital proofs by email within 2–5 working days.

Once you receive your proof, please check the artwork and confirm that everything looks correct before production begins.

Ordering 5 pieces or fewer? If you'd like to review a proof, please leave a note requesting proof confirmation when placing your order.

Proof requirements may vary depending on the product and customization details.

2. How to Review & Confirm Your Proof

When your proof arrives, carefully review the details relevant to your design, including:

• Artwork & Layout: Check the design, orientation, and placement.

• Cutlines & Borders: Review the cutting outline and borders, if applicable.

• Text & Colors: Check spelling, artwork details, and color arrangements.

• Special Requirements: Verify any requested customization details shown in the proof.

If anything needs adjustment, reply to the proof email with clear instructions before approving it.

Important: For orders requiring proof confirmation, production will begin only after you approve the artwork.

We recommend checking your email regularly after placing an order to avoid unnecessary delays.

3. How Is Production Time Calculated?

Proof confirmation time is not included in the estimated production time.

For orders requiring approval, the production timeline begins after your artwork proof has been confirmed.

The overall order timeline may include:

1. Artwork Review & Proof Preparation: Your design is reviewed, and a proof is prepared when required.

2. Proof Confirmation: You review and approve the artwork or request adjustments.

3. Production: Your customized products are manufactured according to the approved design.

4. Shipping & Delivery: Your completed order is dispatched using the selected shipping method.

Production times vary by product type, quantity, and customization requirements.

4. Ordering Multiple Custom Products?

If your order contains different product types, the estimated shipping date is based on the item with the longest production time.

For example, if you order custom stickers and acrylic keychains together, the overall production schedule will depend on whichever product takes longer to manufacture.
